EcoSpect is the leading local basement waterproofing contractor, serving Binghamton and Ithaca NY and surrounding area's families with a sub-floor drainage system engineered specifically to solve basement water problems in our area. Our systems can be designed to meet the needs of any home, regardless of age or size.
If your basement has ever leaked or flooded, then you should consider a quality basement waterproofing system. Without basement waterproofing, water problems never get better, they only get worse. Even if water leaks are uncommon, your home's air quality can be impacted and your ability to finish your basement is restricted.
EcoSpect's waterproofing system is a sub-floor drainage system engineered specifically to solve basement water problems effectively without worry of clogging from soils under the floor. Our systems can be designed to meet the needs of any home, regardless of age or size.
We offer a combination of experience and advanced technology. EcoSpect is an Authorized Grate Products™ Certified Contractor which includes exclusive access to the patented innovative products, comprehensive trainings and continued support from the national manufacturing company. We are the only company in the Binghamton and Ithaca NY area offering Grate Products' patented basement systems, which are distributed worldwide.
Many years of on the job experience have gone into engineering the EcoSpect waterproofing system. We only install closed drainage systems which utilize a wall vapor barrier to direct water down into the sub-floor drainage. Then, our powerful, patented sump pumps pump water out of the home..
When you consider the risks that a wet basement poses to your family’s health, the increased resale value of your home after waterproofing, and the risk of a flooded basement without waterproofing, the decision becomes easy.
Hydrostatic pressure is caused when water pressure builds up outside a foundation. The weight of the water pushes downward until it finds the path of least resistance, and since a basement is nothing but a hole in the ground it is easy to see why it would come in the small seam at the floor / wall seam.
It is usually recommended to discharge the water at least 10 feet or more away from the foundation. We accomplish this by installing an anti-freeze device and a solid pipe out to a yard drain. This pipe is buried underneath the sod and is hardly noticeable.
It depends on different factors such as the size of your basement, the type of foundation and the type of water problem you are experiencing. Generally the average 32ft x 24 ft basement will cost anywhere from $5000.00 to $10,000 depending on what type of equipment, battery backup system, etc. Financing options are available, and several things can be done to keep the cost down. For example some people will install just the sump pump system to start.
GrateDrain™ is a dual chamber system that is designed to accept ground water faster than any other drainage pipe on the market, yet it is placed just under the floor in front of the footer. This design allows ground water to only be pumped if water is going to come on the basement floor and doing so quickly when called upon to work.
GrateSump™ is our specially designed sump pump collection system. It was designed by someone who installed thousands of sump pump systems over the years. It is not as deep as other sump liners on the market and it will not encourage undermining of the foundation. We use our FastSump™ to pump the ground water out and away from the foundation.
We are in business to create healthy, livable spaces for Binghamton and Ithaca NY and surrounding area's families. There are many ways to lower the humidity in a basement or crawl space. Dehumidifiers are a good start, and can greatly alleviate basement moisture issues. Unfortunately, they are rarely enough to solve the problem.
We typically start by installing a wall vapor barrier along with a ground water control system to reduce the amount of moisture that enters the basement. Because condensation forms on cold surfaces in the late spring, summer and fall months, a dehumidifier is typically still necessary to ensure a clean and comfortable space all year round.
In the last several years, EcoSpect has been installing the Moistu-Vac™ System on our GrateDrain™ systems for our customers in Binghamton and Ithaca NY and surrounding area. This system includes a piping to the roof of the home and a fan which is installed outside or in the attic that draws air and moisture up from underneath the basement slab. This innovative system can remove up to 13 gallons of moisture from under the basement slab each day, capturing moisture before it even enters your home or building.
